Uses X-Vir (Entecavir) is an anti-viral medication used to treat chronic hepatitis B infections. It operates by stopping the spread of the infection by preventing the virus cells from reproducing. Your physician may also prescribe the medication for other purposes. Dosage and Administration The correct dosage of X-Vir (Entecavir) will be determined by your physician based on your health condition and your symptoms. The normal dosage is one tablet taken each day on an empty stomach. These should be swallowed whole and unaltered to avoid destroying or changing the effects of their contents. Take the doses at the same time each day to get the most effective results from treatment. Side effects X-Vir (Entecavir) may cause side effects in some patients such as: Nausea Headaches Hair loss Insomnia Skin rash More serious side effects are muscle pain, breathing problems, fainting, numbness, or irregualr heartbeats. Contact your physician if you experience any symptoms that worry you to make sure the correct changes are made to your dosage. Precautions Do not use X-Vir (Entecavir) if you are lactose or fructose intolerant. Also use caution if you are obese, also infected with HIV, have decreased kidney function, or an enlarged liver as these conditions may cause problems during treatment.
