Uses
Amlodac (Amlodipine Besylate) is a type of medicine called a long-acting calcium channel blocker (CCB). Amlodac is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and is also used to treat angina. Angina is often a pain or pressure in your chest that keeps coming back when part of your heart does not get enough blood.
Dosage and Administration
In general, Amlodac is taken once a day, with or without food. You can take Amlodac with most drinks, including grapefruit juice. It may be easier to take your dose if you do it at the same time every day. For example, take it with breakfast, dinner, or at bedtime.
Side effects
Some people have side effects. The most common ones are swelling in the feet or ankles, headache, feeling tired, or feeling dizzy. You should tell your physician if you have any side effects.
Precautions
Women should not breast-feed while taking Amlodac. It is not known if Amlodac will pass through breast milk. You also should not start any new drugs or supplements, unless you check with your physician first. This means drugs that are prescribed and those you buy off the shelf.
