Details
Admenta (Memantine HCl) is used to treat moderate to severe dementia caused by Alzheimer`s Disease. It works by blocking glutamate, which responsible symptoms of Alzheimer`s disease. It can also be prescribed to treat various other conditions.
Please note Admenta (Memantine HCL) is only effective in reducing the severity of symptoms brought on by Alzheimers disease. It will not cure the disease.
Always dose as directed by your doctor. Never change your dosage, start, or stop using Admenta (Memantine HCL) unless advised by your doctor. Always complete the course of medication prescribed.
Admenta (Memantine HCL) is to be taken orally with a full glass of water, with or without food, usually once daily increasing to twice a day depending on your progress.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If however it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Never double-up a dose to compensate for a missed previous one.
Inform your doctor if your symptoms are not improving.
The following side effects are mild, usually requiring no medical attention. If they persist, worsen, or become bothersome inform your doctor promptly.
If you suspect you have had an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include a rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, and severe dizziness.
Precautions
Prior to taking Admenta (Memantine HCL), discuss fully your medical history and any prescription or non-prescription medication you take with your doctor. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, are breast feeding, or if you have a history of any of the following.
